The girls travelled to Ellesmere Port in Cheshire on a baltic Easter Monday morning looking for glory. The snow was in air on arrival but soon was replaced by sunshine and cold wind. 16 girls teams from across Merseyside and Cheshire had dreams of lifting the trophies at the end of the day. The teams were split into 2 groups of 8 each team guaranteed to play 7 games of 8 minutes of relentless action.
The first game saw Colts play out a 1-1 draw with Brooke scoring an equaliser in a game pretty much dominated by the Colts who were lacking their shooting process. The next 3 matches pretty much followed the first game with Colts lacking the finishing touch to their play. A change of formation eventually changed the fortune with Eve Maldini in defence and 3 in midfield keeping the width the goals started to flow from all players including Lily's first ever goal for Colts. The look on her face when she scored was a look of shock and excitement.
The quarters and semi were easy going as the Colts eased passed teams from Waverton and Wallasey eventually playing Hoylake in the final. The final game was on and Colts pressed for an early goal but Hoylake held our and on a break a clumsy tackle handed them a penalty. Mollie had been amazing all tournament pulled off a fantastic save diving to her right and Colts cleared down the pitch and there was Sophie to slot home a vital goal. A second quickly followed and the team were in control until the final whistle blew and we'd won the cup.
